20 Ways For Moms To Calm Down After A Crazy Day

Are you about to snap, have you had it with today? Girl I hear you! I’m in the same boat.

Because we cannot pour from an empty cup, we need to take care of ourselves in order for us stay-at-home moms to be able to take care of our families. When the day has got you down, try 1, or all, of these tricks to reset & take care of yourself!

  1. Light a relaxing candle.
  2. Have a cup of coffee.
  3. Have a glass of wine.
  4. Paint your nails, or go all out & give yourself a manicure.
  5. Listen to music.
  6. Watch your favorite TV show.
  7. Call it a night early. *highly effective if the day is very much screwed already!*
  8. Phone a friend. “Girl you would not believe this shit show today!”, can be very therapeutic.
  9. Soak in the tub & lock the door!
  10. Read a good book.
  11. Make plans for how to make tomorrow go smoother.
  12. Clean the kitchen. This may not seem very relaxing, but sometimes seeing dishes piled up & sticky counters can cause more stress.
  13. Treat yourself to a face mask. Put on some music or a funny TV show for background noise, then close your eyes.
  14. Lay in bed & listen to an audiobook. The Overdrive app has tons of titles for FREE to choose from-all you need is a library card through your local library!
  15. Enjoy your favorite dinner. If the day is really shot to hell & there’s no looking up until the next morning, I at least like to have a good dinner to look forward to. Or a dessert for after!
  16. Go for a drive with the radio blasting. I enjoy my shopping nights because it means that I get to be alllll alone, and I can listen to music as loudly as I  want. Those are the things I took for granted in my pre-mom days!
  17. Make an adult “blanket fort”, and by that I mean load your couch with pillows, blankets, have a bottle of wine, and lots of snacks nearby.
  18. Scroll through Pinterest, maybe even create a “Relaxation” board.
  19. Dark chocolate with your wine.
  20. In the most severe cases, book yourself a massage with your partner!
