A Trick To Keep Your Clothes Smelling Amazing

IMG_5865.JPG

Hello everyone! Today I am going to share with you a little trick you can use to keep your clothes smelling pretty and clean, long after they’ve come out of the wash!

All you need is a small bottle (even sample size) of perfume, and/or some paper perfume samples from magazines. I read Allure and Cosmo, so I have ample of both.

If you’re using the samples from a magazine, simply tear out the page, open up the sample, and place it in your drawers with your clothes.

Also, you can spray a little bit of perfume into the drawer (or into your closet), and your clothes will smell great when you go to wear them next.

I Tried Double Cleansing For Two Weeks, And My Results Were Surprising

IMG_5863 (2).JPG

“Skin” and “oil” don’t seem like they belong in the same sentence, but after reading this post, you may just change your mind.

I’m always reading about the latest and greatest beauty trends, from products to bizarre treatments.  That’s how I learned about this thing called double cleansing.

To break it down into simple terms, it is basically the practice of washing your face twice: once with an oil cleanser, and then again with a regular cleanser.

Apparently this technique is not at all new to the skin care world. In fact, it has been practiced in Korea for many, many years. And maybe that’s what drew me to it, the fact that it is tried and true. Not to mention the fact that Korea is known for its excellent skin care practices.

I set out to do more research about double cleansing, and find out what sort of an oil cleanser I should be using if I wanted to do this right.

Never having used an oil cleanser before, I had no idea what brands to look for. Turns out, a  lot of skin care companies that I’m already familiar with make oil based cleansers, like Neutrogena, Palmer’s, and my favorite, Burt’s Bees.

I picked my oil cleanser up at Wal-Mart for about $15-a little pricey for me, but a little seems to go a long way. For the second cleanser I decided to use my Cetaphil, which I normally use.

That night I was very eager to try double cleansing for the first time. As I pumped a small amount of oil into my hand and began massaging it over my face, I admit that I felt a little “dirty”! After about 30 seconds, I washed it off with a damp washcloth. My face didn’t immediately break out into monstrous zits,  so that was a good sign.

Before I proceeded to wash with Cetaphil, I took note of how my skin looked and felt. Because I had just rubbed oil all over my face, my skin looked glossy and shiny, and it felt very smooth and moisturized.

The idea behind double cleansing is that the first cleanse with the oil helps to remove large impurities from the skin, which in turn allows the second cleanser (and all other products used) to penetrate the skin better and be more effective. That makes sense!

So, I proceeded to wash my face with Cetaphil like I normally do. After patting my skin dry, I looked very closely at myself in the mirror. Nothing about my face appeared different, but it did feel noticeably softer.

I don’t wash my face in the morning other than with water, and I read that double cleansing only needs to be done once a day. So every evening for the following two weeks, I double cleansed.

Once the first week had passed without any breakouts, I was able to breathe a sigh of relief, as that is ample time for my skin to tell how it will (or won’t) react.

Here we are and the end of the second week, and I have come to really look forward to my evening routine. One of the pluses for me is that I get to massage my face with the oil, which has many benefits on its own. I look at double cleansing as relaxation, rather than an extra step that I have to do.

Overall, the biggest change I see in my skin is that it is softer. But what I  care about more is the fact that double cleansing helps other skin products to be more effective and get deeper into our pores, since I use a topical medication in the evening.

I fully plan to continue double cleansing each night, and look forward to seeing my skin reaching more potential.

“Witchy-Poo’s Detoxifying Salt Scrub”

You’ll need:

-Salt

-Coconut oil, olive oil

-Essential oil

Amy says that basically you need 1 part oil to two parts salt. For my scrub I used 1/2 cup of regular table salt, and about 1/4 cup of olive oil. I then added 12 drops of Wild Orange essential oil.
